Like Water for Chocolate Group Discussion Fed-June


  1. The scene is significant because it shows her strength and how she could be independent. It also shows that Tita is capable of going beyond expectations and stereotypes. The village should view her as a hero.
  2. Relationships
    1. Rosaura and Pedro:
      1. Their relationship is desire. Pedro married Rosaura so that he could be closer to Tita
    2. Pedro and Tita:
      1. Their relationship is rebellious and lust. Pedro lusts after Tita and rebels against tradition. Tita rebels against Pedro and Mama Elena.
    3. Tita and John:
      1. Their relationship is love because John lets Tita open up on her own, and their relationship isn't forced. They both realized they might be the best for eachother.
    4. Gertrudis and Juan:
      1. Their relationship is desire because there was no time for any real relationship to develop after gertrudis left the shower.
