France
is a country that truly finds appreciation in food. It is there daily routine to sit down with
family or friends three times a day for meals. Many types of food eaten in
France differ by region ranging from dishes of Normandy to the, Mediterranean cuisine of Provence. An
ordinary lunch or dinner consists always of some type of meat, whether beef, pork, or, poultry.
Vegetables aren’t as important as meats when it comes to dinner, but they can
still make or break a meal and they still pick the best quality vegetables at
the market.
In Normandy, they
commonly eat Camembert, a type of
cheese, served after the main course but
before dessert. Well known bread they eat at meals are, Baguettes and
croissants. One important
holiday celebrated in France would be Bastille Day this national holiday held
in France commemorates the French revolution and how it began, when they stormed
Bastille on July 14 1789.The way it is celebrated, a large military parade is
held in Paris on July 14th, during the parade the military aircraft
fly above head. The French president opens the parade and thousands of people
line up on the sidelines. Others just spend time with family and friends and
make a celebratory meal. The picture below is called, Soupe à
l'oignon which is a traditional soup that contains onions and beef with cheese
on top. There meals often take time and made with care.
