Bonjour, and welcome to France!  I have chosen France as my culture and have found it to be a great place to learn about. The reason I chose France was because I had taken French as a course here at Carmel for two years, but I feel that there is so much more that I could still learn about it. France is known for the Eiffel Tower located in Paris, and the Tour de France, a multiple stage bicycle race which first started in 1903. Some well known food from France are, crêpes, Soupe à l'oignon, this is a soup that contains, onions and beef with cheese on top, Cassoulet, which is a white bean stew, and ratatouille.   In France food is to be enjoyed and savored. Lunch time in France is often 2 hours long so the French may appreciate the food much more.  Paris contains over 5,000 restaurants alone. Fish, snails and wine is what I often think of when I hear of French cuisine. French pastries are very popular as well and are known to have delicious crepes, fruit tarts, and éclairs. The geography of France, it borders the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean and to the west of it is the Bay of Biscay.   Facts and figures about France, there president is François Hollande since 2012; it is an independent nation in Western Europe.  In the 20th century France went through many hardships, but managed to get through it and become a supplier of agriculture. France also has a population of about 66 million people as well.
