The Special Ingredient Is...

Filipino foods have various ingredients in their dishes.  They bring ouf the diversity, colorfulness, and especially deliciousness to the table.  Also, the dishes really show that filipinos really use the resources around them.  One food that complements any dish is rice.  In fact, almost every dish must have rice to go with it to make it a complete anf fulfilling meal.  Filipinos love their rice but they also love their meat, which is why many dishes contain meat.  Chicken, beef, and pork are among the most common.  There are open fields for farms to raise livestock throughout the Philippines.  Some meaty dishes are adobo, bifstek, and caldareta.  Adobo can be made using either chicken or pork.  The meat is then marinated in a mix of soy sauce, vinegar, and garlic.  Finally let it cook in a simmer, and yehey! There's delicious adobo!  Bifstek is Filipino beef steak (you can hear it in the name).  It's another meat specialty (and personally one of my most favorite dishes).  It's thinly sliced beef simmered in a pan of soy sauce, lemon juice, and water.  Caldareta is like a beef stew with potatoes, carrots, and bell peppers.  The sauce is made with tomato sauce, bay leaves for the flavorful tang, onion and garlic.

Vegetables are also key ingredients.  Although they aren't always in every dish, they still play a key role in the dish as a whole.  Another one of my favorite dishes is Pancit (pronounced "pan-sit").  It contains many vegetables.  Carrots, green beans, and celery are typically used; sometimes shredded cabbage is added.  Chicken or shrimp is optional to add to this dish.  Mix them with bihon noodles, soy and teriyaki sauces and lemon juice, and you get pancit!

The blog is very interesting. Some of the characteristics of the food of the Philippines is also true for many Koreans. One of these characteristics is rice. Like the Philippines, Koreans also eat rice at every meal because it is either used in the dish or as a side dish. One difference between the two though is that Koreans won't typically eat meat at every meal, they will typically eat meat at major feasts and meals. Another interesting fact about your country and many others is that they haven't lost touch of their traditional dishes and meals. In the U.S. and many other countries the people have lost touch of their traditional dishes and meals due to the diet of "fast-food".
