The culture and food I chose to focus on for this project
and blog was southern United States. As a kid growing up with a love for
NASCAR, southern culture slipped into my blood. I chose to do the southern
culture because I enjoy the atmosphere of living life, eating good food and
loud V8 engines. I already know everything in the south is slower than in the
north. Food tends to take longer to make but it is worth it. I also know the
culture tends to be looked at as obnoxious and loud, and it is every bit of
that. The culture tends to focus foods around grilling and barbecuing because
it is warm almost all year round. Southern culture is also known for it’s
phenomenal fried foods. Along with that, if a person happens to wake up in the
south, they will be delighted to hear a great breakfast awaits them. Foods like
grits and sausage gravy are a product of the south and guaranteed to fill you
up. I hope to learn more about why
things are done slower in the south and just simply why the things I love the
most all started in the south. The picture I chose was a NASCAR race at
Talladega Motor Speedway. I feel watching a race in Alabama really sums up the
south and its roots. Foods are on the grill, country music is obnoxiously loud,
V8 engines fill the area with noise and people are enjoying life. I truly
believe that due to the lower standard of living in most areas in the south, it
has taken off pressure for people to make a ton of money and just enjoy life. After
all, if the foods good and the drinks are cold, who cares how much money you
have?
