The culture
of food that I am focusing in on is Spanish. I am interested in this food
culture because I am very fond of Spanish food and the language. I plan to
study abroad to a Spanish country in college because I am going to minor in Spanish
in college. I don’t know too much about the Spanish food culture besides a few
of the ceremonies they have and that they tend to like spicier foods. They also
even like the put chili powder in some candies or deserts. An interesting fact
is that in Spain Churros are mostly breakfast foods where here we would eat
them as a desert or more of a snack. Another interesting fact is that a
tortilla in Spain isn't what we think of a tortilla to be. Basically in Spain a
tortilla is an Omelet. Another fact is that a food called Paella is a food
served a lot in the spring time at festivals called Las Fallas. Paella is made
of rice, other spices, and fish or meat. Spain is a country that has a lot of
water around making it very easy for the country to have access to seafood. A
lot of Spain is made up of fertile land and big pastures. These diverse lands
help provide a variety of food for the Spanish culture. A lot of the Spanish
Culture’s food in Spain comes from the different groups of people who traveled through
the land. For example, the Moorish people passed through and brought through
the ideas of using rice and certain fruits. Now most of the popular Spanish cuisines
include rice.
