We said that Tita rebels against the female gender role of being cowardly. She talks about how she ditched school and swam across the Rio Grande the fastest on page 35. Back then it was wrong for girls and boys to play together, but Tita decided to ignore that and do her own thing. Another example of being brave was when Tita explained she took control of wild horses by herself. Instead of having a man figure out her problems, she stood up and fixed it herself. We think she should do the same with her Pedro situation. She needs to stand up for herself.
Rosaura and Pedro's relationship: desire and love
- Rosaura wants Pedro to love her like he loves Tita
- They have love for each other because they have a child
Tita and Pedro's relationship: desire, passion, and love
- Tita seems like shes in love with the thought of Pedro and desires to be with him
- Pedro thinks he loves her but we think he just has passion of desiring her lustfully
Gertrudis and Juan Alejandrez's relationship: desire
- Gertrudis even said it was a one time thing
Tita and John's relationship: desire and love
- Tita desires to love John, but doesn't know if she can the same way she "loves" Pedro
- John is in love with Tita
Pertaining to John's lecture on "light leaving the body"- we think that all the characters need to get their minds straight on all of their relationships. If they don't they will never find the "light/ oxygen" for their life. For Tita; Pedro, Roberto, and Nacha were all the "oxygen" to her matches, but Mama Elena blew them all out.
