Italians have a diet consistent of a type of carb, a source of protein, and fresh vegetables. Every day, Italians have a culture of cooking with everything from scratch. Every single traditional Italian based dish lacks preservatives that make them even healthier. Since they are such a hot cash crop, tomatoes are a common ingredient in either the sauce or the general makeup of a dish. Growing all their ingredients by hand, most Italians have a garden consisting of tomatoes, basil, egg plant, zucchini, peppers, oregano, parsley, asparagus, and artichokes and many more plants. In addition, dairy products such as cheese and milk are also commonly used in Italian dishes. The biggest type of carb used in Italian dishes is pasta. Italians are most famous for their pastas. With over fifty different types of noodles used, there are many different types of dishes involving this carb. Some of the most common ones include lasagna, penne, spaghetti, and fettuccine. Most pastas incorporate other simple ingredients such as tomato based sauce, basil, and cheese. The simplicity in Italian dishes make them healthier, more affordable, and easier for everyone to create. Almost every ingredient used in popular dishes can be easily grown in the nations’ rich, fertile soil. Due to this fact, grocery stores in Italy are not as prosperous as a business as they are in America. Freezers and refrigerators are also generally smaller than they are in America due to the fact that most ingredients are fresh and don’t have any preservatives.

I like the fact that you conected the different Italian foods to many different things from the soil to the health factor diets. I can see the similarity between our two cultures because they both eat what they grow or farm, and how they make everything from scratch. This is something that I think alot of cultures are loosing because they are turning to prepackaged goods. I also found it interesting that Italian refrigerators and freezers are smaller in Italy bacause of the lack of preservatives in the food.
